Select Board · Meeting of July 22, 2026
Lenox Select Board adopts interim sign permit rules and appoints Housing Authority tenant rep. The board voted unanimously Wednesday to approve a draft temporary-sign regulation for public property, filling a gap that left the town with no authority to remove unauthorized commercial contractor signs from public rights-of-way; Town Manager Jay will refine the document, including a map of prohibited sign locations, before it takes effect, with outreach planned through the Lenox Chamber of Commerce and the town website. The board also unanimously appointed Stephen McQuaid, a Curtis family-housing resident and Air Force Reserve veteran, to the Lenox Housing Authority tenant board seat over fellow applicant Pascal Popa, with members noting Popa as a natural successor if McQuaid relocates later this year.
On the consent agenda, Albert Harper and William O'Leary were appointed as full principal members of the Historical Commission, bringing it to seven, the maximum permitted under state law, as the town prepares a formal commission bylaw. Four fire department hires were ratified and Selena Lamb was appointed to the Affordable Housing Trust.
