Great Barrington Select Board Approves $1.54 Million Bond Notes for Three Capital Projects
LENOX — June 15, 2026 — Great Barrington Select Board unanimously approves $1.54 million in short-term bond notes and endorses draft Open Space and Recreation Plan. At its June 15 meeting, the board voted 4-0 to approve the sale of $1,539,933 in general obligation bond anticipation notes at a net interest cost of 3.15 percent, awarded to Bank ESB following two competitive bids received June 11; the notes cover three capital projects approved at Town Meeting in 2024 and 2025 and mature November 20, 2026. The board also voted unanimously to endorse the town's draft Open Space and Recreation Plan, with Town Manager Liz Munz noting a reference to mixed-use redevelopment at the fairgrounds on page 48 would be removed before final submission to the state. A driveway permit for 172 Division Street was continued to July 6 after board members cited a fire chief memo stating the department "cannot guarantee they'll be able to access a property in the event of a fire or an emergency" and directing applicants to return with the homeowners' response to a recommended sprinkler system. The board also approved a slate of temporary entertainment and liquor licenses and heard a lengthy staff briefing on governance options for overseeing the Ramsdale Library renovation project's construction phase, should a state grant and future Town Meeting vote move forward.
