Lenox Select Board Appoints 13 Residents to Two New Advisory Committees

LENOX — April 6, 2026 — Lenox Select Board appoints 13 residents to two newly formed town committees at April 6 meeting. The board unanimously filled six of seven seats on the Community Preservation Committee — drawing nominees from the Historical Commission, Conservation Commission, and Planning Board, with a seventh housing-related seat still vacant — and appointed a full seven-member Comprehensive Plan Committee that will work with the Berkshire Regional Planning Commission on a 20-to-25-year strategic plan for the town. The board also voted to pursue a no-cost conversion of roughly 50 high-pressure sodium street lights to LED through a National Grid incentive program, contingent on completion by October 1, with a member asking staff to request lower-wattage fixtures to limit glare. Separately, the resignations of Senior Center van drivers Cynthia Carlson and Tim Shumsky were accepted, Shane Gilkis was appointed as a firefighter with the Sheffield Volunteer Hose Company, and the board entered executive session to discuss a proposed settlement with six defendants in the national prescription opioid litigation.
