Lenox Select Board Reorganizes, Approves Police Chief Contract and Salary Schedule

LENOX — May 19, 2026 — Lenox Select Board reorganizes, authorizes police chief contract, and learns $250,000 bike share grant is approved. The board elected Bob Jones as chair and Gordon D. Bailey as clerk at its May 19 meeting, then unanimously authorized Town Administrator Chris to sign an employment contract with Stephanie Burdick as the town's new police chief, noting that Burdick had already signed the agreement. The board also adopted a revised salary classification schedule for non-union positions — the first update since fiscal year 2025 — adding ranges for newly created roles including conservation agent. In his administrator's report, Chris announced that a $250,000 Department of Transportation bike share grant, previously discussed by the board several months ago, had been formally approved and the town received notice the same day; funds must be spent by December 31, 2027, with station installation potentially beginning as early as summer 2026. Separate grants continue to fund design of a dedicated bike path, with MPO construction funding targeted for 2030.
